De Lancellotti

The 2009 DFV Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir has a deep, dark ruby red color with an incense-like spice aroma in the nose. In addition, you will catch marionberry and blackberry pie aromas of cinnamon, pastry crust, cloves and ripe fruit ending in milk chocolate. Medium to full-bodied for a pinot noir with a velvety, supple texture of creamy fruit flavors. A spicy taste with an incredible finish. This wine is big and brooding but elegant and focused at the same time offering a very balanced and attractive buy. Drink now through 2017.

Wine Spectator

Polished and focused, with gorgeous cherry, currant and mineral flavors mingling seamlessly on the taut structure, finishing sleek and balanced with mouthwatering acidity. Drink now through 2019. 250 cases made.

Score: 92. —Harvey Steiman, October 15, 2011.

Wine Advocate

The 2009 Pinot Noir Estate is composed of 80% Pommard clone and 20% Dijon clone 115 that spent 16 months in 20% new French oak. It offers up an already complex perfume of exotic spices, incense, cherry, and raspberry that titillate the nose. This is followed by a savory, elegant, nicely proportioned Pinot that will evolve for 1-2 years and provide enjoyment through 2019.

Score: 91. —Jay Miller, October 2011.
