The most prestigious of Tuscany's noble wines, a true prince among royalty: lean and finely structured, assertive and expansive--a wine whose authority, needless to say, is recognised by most other well-known reds. This is perhaps our most celebrated wine, for San Felice has shown how to achieve a Brunello that is remarkable for its fine balance, solid structure, and remarkable capacity for lengthy ageing. Anyone who loves fine wine must, at least from time to time, fall under the spell of this wine.

Impressive depth of fruit on the nose, with dark berries, flowers and blueberries. Full-bodied, with a core of fruit that is impressive and sensual. Silky tannins. Long, long finish. Try it in 2016. This is clearly better than the 2006.

Wine Advocate
The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Campogiovanni is a huge wine bursting with dark red cherries, plums, licorice, new leather and spices. This is an especially big, voluminous style built on extroverted fruit and sheer richness, but it all works. The weight of the vintage comes through in the wine-s glycerin. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022.

Wine Enthusiast
Inky-dark and superconcentrated up to the rim of the wine. Black aromas of coal, licorice, crushed peppercorn, river stone and dark fruit. This is one of those wines that is so big and bold, it's hard to imagine which foods would pair best.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.

I rate wines using the 100-points scale. I have used this point system for close to 25 years. I still believe it is the simplest way to rate a wine, with its origins from grade school in the United States. A wine that I rate 90 points or more is outstanding (A), and worth buying. If I rate a wine 95 points or more (A+), it is a must buy.
