Emilio Lustau Description
Aged for equal periods under “flor” and in contact with the oxygen, in Bodega Emperatriz Eugenia in Jerez de la Frontera. This dry Amontillado acquires a genuine, rich and nutty flavour through years of ageing. Amber in colour, with hazelnut aromas on the nose. Light, soft and round on the palate, with a long aftertaste.
There were two arches at the entrance to the winery at Plaza del Cubo, where this Amontillado was aged. Each one was dedicated to one of Emilio Lustau’s sons’ wives: Arco de Zuri (for Emilio Lustau Ruiz-Berdejo’s wife) and Trini (wife of José Luis Lustau Ruiz-Berdejo).
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The non-vintage Dry Amontillado Los Arcos Solera Reserva reveals a medium amber hue along with a nutty, honeyed, dry personality with great acid.
James Suckling: 92 Points
A very attractive, medium-bodied Amontillado with a slew of dried fruit and a delicate hint of toffee. Elegant and dry with just a hint of bitterness that the rich flavors balance very nicely. Very clean finish.
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
Walnut, halva, singed almond and green tea notes give this an intriguing profile, flirting with an off-dry character. Stays dry through the bitter orange–edged finish. Drink now.
