Bodegas Ontañon Description
One of the most particular and genuine features of the Ontañón Reserva lies in its blend of varieties, its authentic coupage between the tempranillo, with its fragrance and silkiness, and the deep acidity that the graciano grapes provide, one of the most extraordinary gems from the panoply of native varieties of our land. The perfect and precise conjunction of the two is part and parcel of the greatest history and tradition of Rioja wines and their vocation to last over time. This is why these are timeless wines. Fine Rioja wines, on the historic pathway of the greatest.
James Suckling: 93 Points
There’s a spicy overlay to the tangy white pepper, savory spices, dried plums, dried grapefruit and licorice notes. Pretty complex and well balanced, with linear savory fruit and a lengthy finish. Very firm and fine-boned tannins. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
A savory red, leading with smoke and grilled herb notes before revealing flavors of plumped cherry and baked plum. Well-balanced, with supple tannins and fragrant accents of sassafras root, cocoa powder and macchia emerging on the finish. Tempranillo and Graciano.
