Each vintage, Katherine’s Vineyard Chardonnay is a single-vineyard expression that captures the estate’s “refrigerated sunshine”— aka Santa Maria Valley's ocean influence, warm sun, and cool breeze. This layered, elegant, and distinct wine is crafted exclusively from the fog-swept vines of Katherine’s Vineyard, named after Cambria proprietor Katie Jackson in 1986, and planted within ancient soils consisting of fossilized seashells, shale, limestone and sand.
Cambria Description
Our flagship Chardonnay is fermented in both stainless steel and barrels to maintain its fresh flavors and aromatics while imparting texture and complexity. Each sip beckons another, with hints of vanilla and crème brûlée, complemented by notes of citrus and stone fruit. Beautifully balanced and vibrant, this wine is sure to convert any wine lover into a Chardonnay enthusiast.
Wine Enthusiast: 92 Points
Lemon balm, baked apricot and macadamia nut aromas converge on the appealing nose of this bottling. There's a blast of acidity that cuts into the lightly salted core of pear, apple and citrus peel flavors, with a warm oak note carrying the finish.
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2023 Chardonnay Katherine's Vineyard is rich yet energized, driven by taut minerality and juicy acidity. Barrel spice and ripe orchard fruit marry in harmony, with serious complexity, deep minerality and impressive finesse, especially for the price.
Wine Spectator: 90 Points
Shows remarkable seamlessness and complexity, with flavors of lemon blossoms, orange sherbet, papaya and marmalade. A fresh thread of acidity leaves a terrific impression on the finish, along with lemon verbena and fresh ginger notes that show a hint of marzipan. Drink now.
