Capanna Description
The 2019 Brunello reveals all the character of the North-East area of Montalcino. Nose of black currant,
plums cherries, with touches of carob and toasted dried fruit, with a nice trace of gardenia at the end. The
mouthfeel has density and tension, with brackish tannins and the return of undergrowth and small fruits of
undergrowth.
James Suckling: 95 Points
Aromas of redcurrants and red flowers, followed by a touch of pie crust and sandalwood. Full-bodied with steely and sturdy tannins and vivid acidity. Dried-herb character at the end. Masculine and structured.
Wine Enthusiast: 94 Points
The alluring delicate density of dried fruit and flowers define the nose, from dried cherry and dried cranberry to dried rose petal. A medley of sweet and tart berries on the palate sparkle with a slice of Cara Cara orange and a glint of metallic knife's edge, stitched together by refined tannins.
Vinous: 94 Points
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino bursts from the glass with a rich and intense display of crushed black cherries and plums complemented by cloves, olives and crushed stone. This is expansive on the palate, with silky textures and supple wild berry fruits underscored by saline minerals and brisk acidity. The 2019 finishes structured and full of zesty tension, leaving savory spices and a pleasantly bitter twang that pinches at the cheeks. There is so much pent-up energy here, yet also depth. Lose the 2019 in the cellar as it's a long-distance runner.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The Capanna 2019 Brunello di Montalcino (with 37,000 bottles made) initially offers a savory combination of aromas with dark fruit, teak wood and bramble. The fruit has a tart side with pomegranate or cranberry that slide into an elegant mid-palate.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
This luscious red is lively and well-defined, bursting with cherry, plum and floral aromas and flavors. The structure is firm, yet there's fine equilibrium overall, and the finish evokes green tea and almond accents.
