Attractive nose with cherries, dried cranberries, cocoa, tea leaves, cumin and dry earth. Full-bodied with velvety texture. It is tight and chewy with a fresh, crunchy character, yet it will need some time to soften. Firm finish with crushed stone minerality to it.
Wine Spectator: 91 Points
A mix of fruity and savory, this red evokes strawberry, cherry, earth, underbrush and iron flavors. Lean and sinewy, with chewy tannins and vibrant acidity. Tips toward the tannins but is long.

The 2018 Barbaresco Rio Sordo shows a dark and savory personality with aromas that tend toward blackcurrant, dried rose, earth and Indian spice. This wine shows hot-vintage aromas and less nuance as a result. It has less depth next to the 2019 vintage that I tasted side by side.

Opening with aromas of black cherries, wild mint, licorice and dried flowers, this Barbaresco lifts from the glass. Well structured, with elegant tannins and vibrant acidity showcasing the deep core of red fruits that finish with more savory and forest-floor notes.
