Castello di Ama Description
Ama, produced almost entirely from Sangiovese grapes, was added to the estate’s wines with the 2010 vintage and the introduction of Gran Selezione quality criterion in Chianti Classico. The grapes are hand-harvested from vines that are 10-12 years old on average.

A refined Chianti Classico with firm, racy tannins that give length and beauty to this. Black cherries, blueberries, crushed stones and raspberries on the center palate. A small crop, so they blended all their top Chainti Classicos.
Vinous: 94 Points
The 2023 Chianti Classico Ama is superb. Then again, it is the only Sangiovese-based wine Ama bottled in 2023. Dark red cherry, red plum, rose petal, blood orange, and pomegranate are all wonderfully delineated. Dynamic and vibrant in the glass, with superb character, the 2023 massively overdelivers. Readers who can find it should not hesitate.
