Chateau Bourdieu Description
Chateau Bourdieu No. 1 offers a beautiful deep garnet color to the eye with intense reflections. Its expressive and complex nose, made up of very ripe black fruits: blackcurrant, blueberry, blackberry and fresh red fruits: strawberry, redcurrant, is enhanced with wonderful toasted and vanilla notes. Its mouth is rich, structured, fleshy and ample thanks to its round and silky tannins. The finish brings this rich side which will make it appreciated on all occasions.
The ideal food pairing with steak, lamb, gourmet burgers, pulled pork & mushroom dishes.
Blend: 89% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Malbec
Decanter: 95 Points
Pristine definition of pure and driving damson, cherry and plum, with understated vanilla oak. Deep and long, the palate reveals a cascade of fleshy black fruits over ripe, fine-grained tannins and fruit-bonded acidity. Lovely stuff.
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2019 No. 1 is a soft, plush wine with no hard edges and plenty of appeal. Inky dark cherry, plum, creme de cassis, mocha, chocolate, sweet French oak, and espresso all run through this sumptuous, racy Cotes de Blaye. The wine is dramatic, exotic, and virile, with tons of personality.
James Suckling: 91 Points
Blackberry and black-olive aromas. Medium body with round, dusty tannins. Chocolate aftertaste. Merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Better in a year.
Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points
This wine has power, smoky density and packed, ripe dark fruits. Full-bodied and still young.
Jeb Dunnuck: 90 Points
In the same qualitative ballpark as the 2018, the 2019 Château Bourdieu No. 1 has a deeper ruby hue as well as a meaty, mouth-filling, medium-bodied style including classic notes of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco, leather, and assorted spices. The balance is spot on, it has terrific purity, and it possesses the structure and class to evolve for a solid decade. Best after 2022.
Chateau Bourdieu No.1 Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux offers a beautiful red ruby color, deep and intense. It leads with red fruit and blackcurrant aromas, complemented by notes of redcurrant. The palate is round and juicy, with smooth, well-integrated tannins that offer a nice structure and long finish.
