Attractive, clear color with perfect brilliance. The initial nose is discreet, but after swirling, floral notes with a slight smokiness emerge. The attack is soft and fresh. The palate is fullbodied, with dense citrus aromas, particularly lemon, and floral notes. The Sauvignon Blanc fully expresses itself in this fresh year, offering remarkable tension. The finish is mineral and extremely long. A great white wine with great ageing potential.
68% Sauvignon Blanc, 32% Sémillon
Chateau Brown Description
Château Brown owes its name to a wealthy Scottish wine merchant, John Lewis Brown, who bought the estate in 1795. Located on the outskirts of Bordeaux, in the heart of the famous Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Brown is among the rare vineyards classified as "peri-urban." Only 31 hectares of vines out of a 60 potential hectares of AOC, is rooted in the oldest terroirs of the Bordeaux vineyard: the Graves du Nord. Acquired by the Mau and Dirkzwager families in 2004, Château Brown has since been totally rethought and restructured. At the helm of the estate, Jean-Christophe Mau places the vineyard at the center of his concerns, focusing primarily on conducting demanding and responsible viticulture. Here, every effort is made to preserve this exceptional setting where vineyards, forests, flower meadows, orchard, and floral farm coexist harmoniously.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Complex nose of spiced apples, dried oranges, herbs, flint and cloves. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity. Layered. Lovely cream and spice at the end with just-ripe fruit. Drink now.
Wine Enthusiast: 93 Points
This estate in the Bordeaux suburbs has produced a warm, ripe wine with layers of acidity to bring out freshness. The apple flavors are in the background of this generous wine.
Wine Spectator: 92 Points
Zingy and focused, with white nectarine, peach and lemon peel notes streaming through, laced with flashes of bitter almond and quinine on the finish. Distinctive and delicious. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon.
Vinous: 90 Points
The 2021 Brown Blanc has a fresh, well-defined nose featuring crisp malic scents and granite, though I was seeking a bit more complexity. The palate is well balanced with good weight, and lightly spiced, leading to a sappy finish.
