Graceful and seductive, due to the dominance of the Merlot, Chateau Gazin’s wines can be enjoyed after a few years in the bottle, but usually they are worth laying down for fifteen, twenty years or more. Their sumptuous generosity offers a wide aromatic range of red and black fruit which harmonizes with their intense crimson or garnet red color. They typically offer hints of plum, chocolate, coffee or liquorice, with aromas of almonds, toast, tobacco and vanilla, and a minty freshness. With maturity they develop a spicy nose, with a hint of truffles, notes of undergrowth, game, and leather.
Chateau Gazin Description
This is once again a good vintage that our vineyard offers to enthusiasts. This vintage is a blend of 94% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Cabernet Franc. 2022 presents a dark garnet color. The nose offers notes of red and black fruits, aromas of blackberry and peony, interspersed with hints of brioche, vanilla, and blond tobacco brought by barrel aging. The palate is round, supported by silky tannins and pleasant freshness. Moderately fleshy, this refined wine is very long on the palate and well-balanced.

This is really fresh and refined with so much class for the vintage with blackberries, blueberries, violets and minerals. Some coffee beans. Medium- to full-bodied, this has ultrafine tannins and a long and persistent finish. Such balance and harmony for the vintage.

The 2022 Gazin is bright, punchy and focused. Beams of tannin confer a feeling of classicism that is palpable throughout. Dark blue/purplish fruit, crushed rocks, slate, menthol and graphite are all beautifully delineated. Power and finesse come alive in this distinguished, mid-weight Pomerol.

Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, licorice, cherries and spices, the 2022 Gazin is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with excellent depth at the core, sweet tannins and a long, expansive finish. Despite the drought, the vineyards performed better in 2022 than in 2020 at this address, and the result is one of the better vintages for Gazin in recent years.
