Chateau Haut Peyrat Description
When starting to taste Château Haut Peyrat 2022 you may be surprised at the first glimpse by its deep and intense garnet color. The concentration of this exceptional vintage leaves no doubt. At the nose it expresses the ripeness of blackcurrant, maturated cherries, notes of licorice and violet, blended with delicate pastry aromas from the oak. In mouth, despite their youngness, the tannins are already integrated and presents velvety texture and comforting roundness, in a pleasant crispy frame that offers nice aging possibilities. Freshness and maturity, balanced to create this incredible vintage of Haut Peyrat!
Decanter: 95 Points
Soft herbal accents join ripe bramble fruit and perfumed floral notes on the nose - aromatically appealing. Supple and alive, great energy from the start here with vibrant acidity giving this a lifted expression. Tannins are chalky and supportive, coating the mouth in flavour and texture and carrying the strawberry, red cherry and plum fruit to a long finish. Extremely well executed with focus and elegance as well as complexity and character. A touch of dried herbs and tobacco join the palate with mint and lovely terroir markers of iodine, slate, graphite, a bloody tang and mint. Sleek and streamlined this is a great wine with plenty of ageing potential. Can be opened now to enjoy the finesse in its youth but will no doubt improve over the next 5-15 years. 5% Malbec completes the blend. Indigenous yeasts for spontaneous fermentation, ageing for 12 months mostly in one use barrels.
