Chateau Lynch-Bages Description
Château Haut-Bages Averous is a property in Pauillac, acquired some time ago by André Cazes. For over 30 years, it was Lynch-Bages’ second wine. In 2008, a new identity was given to the second wine, under the name “Echo de Lynch-Bages”.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Juicy and fine-grained, with racy, ripe strawberries, lightly baked currants and a touch of asphalt and roasted spices. Tight and nicely chewy, with medium body and lots of almost dusty tannins. Firm, fruit-forward finish. A blend of 55% merlot, 43% cabernet sauvignon and 2% cabernet franc. Drink from 2026.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
Aromas of cassis, dark berries and creamy new oak introduce the 2023 Echo de Lynch-Bages, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine with a succulent core of fruit framed by youthfully chewy tannins.
Vinous: 90 Points
The 2023 Echo de Lynch-Bages has a high-toned bouquet of cassis and floral notes that will appeal to those seeking a more hedonistic Pauillac in this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy with succulent tannins and a cashmere-like mouthfeel. The finish is ripe and quite long. Drink it over the next six to eight years.
