Saint-Pierre is an exquisite 17-hectare fragment of an ancient estate, its story a tale of division and reunification. Since 1982 Saint-Pierre is whole again; a trinity of vineyard, winery and chateau, forever reunited by the Triaud family.
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 7% Petit Verdot
Chateau Saint-Pierre Description
Created in the 17th century but split up due to successive legacies, through a combination of good luck and tenacity, Henri Martin succeeded in putting the estate back together the way it had been in 1855, the year of the famous classification. Since then, Saint-Pierre has been acknowledged as perfectly representative of the Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Julien.
James Suckling: 94 Points
A layered, refined St.-Julien that shows depth and polish. Cassis, pencil lead, mineral, cigar box and dark chili chocolate. The juicy, polished, fine-grained tannins grow on the medium-bodied palate. Very long, classy and resolved in the finish. Already an overachiever for the vintage. Better than from the barrel.
Vinous: 93 Points
The 2021 Saint-Pierre is a dark, brooding wine. Black fruit, gravel, spice, menthol, licorice, and lavender add to an impression of somber intensity. There's good depth and drive, even if some angular contours remain. As always, Saint-Pierre shows the more brooding side of Saint-Julien.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
The 2021 Saint-Pierre offers up an exotic bouquet of sweet cassis, plums, spices and toasty new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it's unusually rich and opulent for the vintage, with a broad attack, polished tannins and a creamy, oak-inflected finish. This classy Saint-Julien will offer a broad drinking window.
