This wine exudes dark fruit and floral aromas with hints of ground coffee. Bold and expansive on the palate, the flavor evolution is shaped by substantial yet fine tannins and tangy acidity over the long finish.
Chateau des Jacques Description
This is a Cru Beaujolais assembled from eight unique climats within the Moulin-a-Vent appellation. Each site presents it's own version of pink granite and exposure, which influences the eventual wine. All fruit is manually harvested, rigorously sorted, fermented with natural yeasts, and aged in concrete vats and oak barrels for 10 months. The final assemblage expresses the complete symphony of the Moulin-à-Vent appellation.
Wine Advocate: 92 Points
The 2021 Moulin-à-Vent originates from eight different vineyards: Rochegrès, Carquelin, Champ de Cour, Thorins, Les Vérillats, La Roche, La Rochelle and Les Caves. It's a lush expression of the vintage, with a fruit-driven core of juicy red and black currants, cherries and red plums with top notes of lilac petals, dried sage, sweet spices and white pepper. On the medium-bodied palate, the tannins are finely woven, lending gentle support to the succulent, impressively concentrated flavors, making for a seamless, supple mouthfeel with a tangy finish. It's one of the most accessible wines from the estate's 2021 lineup.
Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points
This wine pairs concentration and minerality. Black fruit predominates on the nose with raspberry, blackberry, umami and dried black cherry. The wine is grippy in texture and is supported by taut tannins through to the long finish. Drink now and from 2026 onwards to see the wine benefit from age in bottle.
James Suckling: 90 Points
This has so much immediate red berry charm plus a touch of sour cherry. A bit on the light and crisp side for this appellation, but there are some nice restrained tannins supporting the fruit and harmonizing the stony acidity. Very well crafted. Drink now.
