Far Niente Description
Dolce has nearly 16 acres of Semillon vineyards located in Coombsville, east of the city of Napa, and 3 acres of Sauvignon Blanc vineyards in Oak Knoll District, just north of the city. The Coombsville vineyards sit at the base of the Vaca Mountains, which define the valley’s eastern edge. Volcanic soils, loose and well-drained, paired with a westfacing exposure, shelter the vines from prevailing winds so that autumn’s damp morning fog—a critical factor in the development of Botrytis cinerea—lingers among the vines until midday. High humidity followed by drying conditions encourages, but does not guarantee, the growth of Botrytis. Its spread remains unpredictable, with individual berries succumbing at different rates, if at all.
