Il Borro Description
The Lamelle was the first white wine produced by our estate. The metamorphic soil with significant presence of shell fossils allows it to fully express its freshness, resulting in a product that never tires the palate.
James Suckling: 92 Points
Fresh and finely focused, this offers ripe yet precise peaches, linden honey and fresh flowers over a crisp mineral core. Medium-bodied, bright and tightly drawn, with delicious fruit carried by clean acidity. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
The organic Il Borro 2025 Chardonnay Lamelle offers crisp apple and fresh pear, giving the wine a lovely summery personality. It is simple and fresh, making a natural partner to summer salads and vegetarian fare. The acidity is crisp but not bracing. In fact, the overall effect is mild, easy and approachable. The vines are planted at 300 meters in elevation in stony, metamorphic soils notable for the presence of fossilized seashells. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by three months of aging in steel on the fine lees.
Wine Enthusiast: 91 Points
The nose shimmers with aromas of green apple, white flowers and crushed shells, while the palate balances more tart green apple elements with salted almonds. There is just a hint of slickness on the palate that makes this apparently simple wine more substantial than you'd expect.
