Jean-Paul Brun produces serious Gamay. This region is a bullseye formed by the steep slopes of Mont Brouilly, and is completely surrounded by the region of (just) Brouilly. A bit confusing, but think of the Côte as the denser, more concentrated version of the larger Brouilly. Jean- Paul owns vineyards in many of the Beaujolais Crus - we have carried his Morgon in the past, and currently carry his Beaujolais Blanc.
This Cote de Brouilly is fruity with red berries and cherries with black, dusty spices underneath. It makes us think of stews and fire-pits and sweaters in the evening. You should really stock a couple away for the months to come!
