Inky depth of color. A classic and timeless Cabernet nose sporting notes of ripe blackberry and marionberry, cassis, dried herbs, olive tapenade, cedar, vanilla, and coffee. The palate is balanced with bright acidity and sings with notes of plum, black cherry and baking spices. The tannins are beautifully elegant in this vintage and the wine rewards with a very soft and long finish.
Leonetti Cellar Description
Cabernet Sauvignon has long been a benchmark for Walla Walla Valley. We believe that it thrives here, perhaps even more so than in its native Bordeaux. The finest Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon combines the lusciousness of New World warm climate fruit, and the classic nerve and balance of its heritage homeland.
Vinous: 96 Points
Darkly alluring and brooding in the glass, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with dusty dried flowers and black currants lifted by nuances of mint and pine. This washes across the palate with total elegance, silky and suave, with sultry ripe red fruits underscored by saline minerals that slowly saturate. Residual acids add a bump of energy that balances, as tart wild berries and currants give way to grippy tannins that linger on. This is a wonderfully radiant and entrancing vintage for Leonetti's Estate Cabernet.
James Suckling: 96 Points
Ripe currants, plums and suede on the nose. Full-bodied with chewy, fruit soaked tannins. The palate is driven by fresh acidity that carries the dark fruit through the long, satisfying finish. Rich yet toned and focused.Tobacco and melted chocolate. Intense. 89% cabernet sauvignon, 8% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Broad-shouldered and intense in structure, with handsome blackberry, black tea, clove and other spices. Builds tension toward firm tannins. Built for the cellar.
