Unquestionably one of the finest Beaune red wines, this combines a bold structure with complex textural and flavor nuances. Initial aromas of dark fruit, espresso, and damp earth support a textural impression of weight, dense rounded tannins and fine acidity. Alcohol levels tend to be rather high yet not noticeable as part of the overall structure.

Louis Jadot Description
Clos des Ursules is a historic Beaune vineyard and key to the Jadot origin story as the first parcel acquired in 1826. The vineyard is a sub-climate of the Vignes Franches terroir and is divided into two sections (upper & lower) with a landmark stone hut in the center. Soils are deep red clay which tend to impart structure and elegance to the wines. Pinot Noir here is harvested manually and brought to the nearby winery for triage, destemming, and natural fermentation in passive oak vats. After alcoholic fermentation is complete the wine is racked into oak barrels for malolactic fermentation and extended aging. Approximately 16 months later the cuvee is reassembled for bottling.
James Suckling: 95 Points
Fabulous, fresh blackberry and black-cherry nose with some heady floral notes. Imposing tannin structure and concentration, but it is all wrapped in big black fruit. The crisp acidity of the vintage is very present here and makes this bright, but the firm and stony finish needs some time to completely harmonize. This will really blossom if you have a little patience. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.
Wine Spectator: 95 Points
A picture of elegance and finesse, with cherry, strawberry, floral and stony mineral aromas and flavors, this red is charming and seamless enough to enjoy now, yet will improve with age. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity provide structure, while the finish lingers. Best from 2024.

Sweet spot
Outstanding
Once again there is ample floral influence to the markedly spicy dark cherry coulis aromas. The vibrant and impressively dense middle weight plus flavors also possess a beguilingly suave texture while displaying excellent persistence on the firm, serious and youthfully austere finale.
Vinous: 93 Points
The 2020 Beaune Clos des Ursules 1er Cru has a very dense and quite intense bouquet, a melange of red and black fruit, tobacco and a touch of graphite. An underlying marine element becomes more prominent with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, fresh and vibrant but with quite a sturdy backbone and certainly the spiciest on the finish of the six Beaune Premier Crus from Jadot. Long term potential here.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) has also turned out very well, unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of sweet cherries, wild berries, spices and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, it's seamless and complete, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a harmonious, integrated profile.
