This firm, full-bodied Premier Cru is vigorous on the palate, with deep aromas and considerable structure that will mellow with age. This will develop favorably in the bottle for 12 to 15 years.
Louis Jadot Description
Les Boudots borders the Premier Cru vineyards of Vosne-Romanée, at the northern border of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The soil is limestone and marl, and an eastern exposure ensures ideal sunlight. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to one month to extract color, aromas and tannins. The wine is then matured for 15 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Wine Spectator: 95 Points
Supple and silky in texture, this red is elegant, bordering on racy. Delivers cherry, raspberry, violet and spice flavors that are beautifully balanced with the solid structure. Tightens up on the finish, a good sign of future potential, yet remains persistent and resonant, with the fruit, spice and mineral elements lingering.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
Notes of rich berry fruit, blood orange, rose petals and spices introduce the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots (Domaine Gagey), a medium to full-bodied, velvety and ample wine that's layered and lively, with bright acids and a saline finish. This is promising.
Burghound: 92 Points
Outstanding
Attractively spicy aromas include those of violet, red berry coulis, soil tones and discreet wood influence. I very much like the seductive texture of the suave and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors that flash good power on the firmly structured finale where the only reproach is a touch of warmth so be sure to serve this on the cooler side as it will help with the warmth.
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a conspicuous fish scale scent on the nose that complements the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, sappy red fruit, lightly spiced with a sinewy finish that just about manages to retain an essence of finesse.
