This wine has a brilliant pale yellow colour. The nose is brioche-like, with hints of vanilla. The palate is full and round, with hints of acacia honey and almond, with a fine mineral finish.
Louis Latour Description
Home of some of the world's most extraordinary Chardonnays including the famous Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet is the geographical middleman of the white wine villages, bordered by Meursault to the north and by Chassagne-Montrachet to the south. The vineyard of Puligny-Montrachet "Sous les Puits" has a south-easterly exposure and is situated at the top of the hill of Blagny, just above "La Garenne", near a spring, hence the name of "Sous le Puits" ("Under the Well").
James Suckling: 95 Points
Aromas of flint, grapefruit rind, orchard fruit, chalk and fresh herbs. The high-tension palate is precise with mineral-driven acidity and a textural, rounded mouthfeel. Perhaps the most linear and focused release of the 2023 premier cru whites.
Wine Spectator: 92 Points
Plush yet dense, displaying peach, apple, vanilla and nutmeg aromas and flavors. Underlined by solid acidity, this just tails off a little on the finish. The oak spice notes linger.
Wine Advocate: 92 Points
The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Sous le Puits derives from a higher-altitude site, but it's quite rich and ripe, delivering aromas of sweet stone fruit, beeswax and flowers followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate.
