The attractive profile of this richly elegant Pinot Noir was created by blending together individual lots of wine made from several different clonal selections. The grapes came from diverse sites within the cool area bordering the Sonoma County coast. Each vineyard is strongly influenced by its close proximity to the Pacific Ocean only 10 miles away.
Merry Edwards Description
Our Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir displays a unique and specific regionality. This wine is distinctly coastal, with bright, buoyant acidity that sets it apart from wines made from our warmer sites. It is made to be enjoyed from the time of its release, either with food or as a lovely aperitif.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Aromas of spiced cherry, plum and fresh mint. Medium-to full-bodied with silky tannins. An interesting, well-balanced mix of fresh red and black fruit and savory spice. Good concentration. Drink or hold.
Wine Enthusiast: 92 Points
This broad and plummy wine offers abundant red and black fruit flavors, a smooth texture and good underlying balance. Moderate acidity and tannins give a little bite that perks up the considerable strawberry and black plum flavors.
Burghound: 90 Points
Outstanding
A slightly cooler blend features notes of red and dark pinot fruit, poached plum and anise. Here too the middleweight flavors are acceptably dense with a lovely sense of underlying tension that carries over to the firm, serious, compact and dusty finale. This is quite reserved and definitely in need of some bottle aging.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
The 2020 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is scented of wild berry jam, blueberries, juniper and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate has a firm, slightly rustic texture, understated fruits and rounded freshness. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
