Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2009 is captivating with its intimate and caressing character. A wine that is intensively alive, a true incarnation of the fruit of the harvest.
Moet & Chandon Description
The beginning of winter was particularly rigorous in 2009. The Champagne region saw intermittent snowfall, and temperatures remained quite low. Spring was warm but rainy. The weather did not encourage flowering and there was a threat of mildew. The summer, despite stormy periods that raised concerns that the health of the vines might suffer, was dominated by sunshine, especially in August. The weather remained hot, dry and very sunny for five consecutive weeks. On September 4 a hailstorm hit the vineyards in Hautvillers, Verzenay and Chouilly. The summery weather returned the very next day, however, and the grapes continued to ripen in complete serenity. The harvest thus began on September 12 under absolutely idyllic conditions. The grapes showed exceptional health and their maturity, underlined by a wonderful aromatic expression, was superlative.
Vinous: 98 Points
The 2009 Dom Perignon Rose is a sexy, racy wine that captures all the radiance of the year. Kirsch, blood orange, mint, spice and dried flowers unfurl in the glass. Soft, plush contours wrap it all together. Readers will find a Dom Perignon Rose endowed with tremendous textural depth and resonance. The 2009 is a total hedonistic turn-on. That's all there is to it.
James Suckling: 97 Points
Peaches, fresh crushed strawberries and roses on the nose. Full-bodied and generous. Fine tannins that frame the wine beautifully and set it up for a fresh finish. Some fruit tea and cedar undertones. Enticing finish with hints of bitterness. Savory. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator: 96 Points
A lovely rosé Champagne that waltzes gracefully across the palate, belying the concentrated range of macerated raspberry and strawberry, candied blood orange peel, toast and saffron notes carried on the elegant, satiny mousse. Long and fresh, with minerally smoke and oyster shell accents on the focused finish.
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
The 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé, disgorged in 2022 with a dosage of five grams per liter, continues to show nicely, unfurling in the glass with aromas of orange oil, raspberry, pomegranate and Timut pepper, mingled with notes of dried flowers and apricot. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and openly muscular—expansive and textural—built around a sweet core of fruit, its phenolic presence and vinous character informed by the inclusion of 13% still red wine. Its pinpoint mousse and ripe yet vibrant acidity lend energy, carrying the wine to a perfumed, resonant finish.
