The Sullenger Vineyard, situated behind the Nickel & Nickel winery in the heart of Oakville, is named for John C. Sullenger, who settled the farmstead in the 1880s. The vineyard's thirty acres of clay loam soil are bordered to the south by Opus One and to the west by the To Kalon Vineyard. The Sullenger Vineyard is planted exclusively to Cabernet Sauvignon, with two rootstocks and several clones that add unique complexity to the resulting wine.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullenger Vineyard comes from a site just south of To Kalon. Loaded with black cherries and ripe fruit, this full-bodied wine is rich, voluptuous and silky on the outside, but underneath that flesh, there's a firm structure and dusty tannins that linger easily on the elegant finish. This is a real beauty from the western side of Oakville.
