Planted in proximity to the Shea Vineyard, one of Oregon's most celebrated sites, the Penner-Ash Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir is sourced exclusively from the 15-acres of vines surrounding the winery and tasting room located in Yamhill-Carlton. This red wine is bold and perfectly wild with intense aromas and flavors of boysenberry jam and blueberry pie mixed with cocoa powder, dried cherry and black pepper. Hints of vanilla toast on the finish leave a lasting impression sure to wow pinot lovers.
Penner-Ash Description
In 1998, Lynn and Ron Penner-Ash founded Penner-Ash Wine Cellars in the Northern Willamette Valley’s Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Bringing to life their shared vision, through years of hard work and unyielding commitment, the pair built a reputation for lush, layered Pinot Noir, and community leadership throughout the valley.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Floral and attractively structured, showing cherry and guava flavors. Laced with sassafras tea and savory spice tones that build richness and tension toward fine-grained tannins.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Broad and rich at first sip, yet balanced to a tee. Fragrant red cherries, black cherries and spearmint lead to lively fresh fruit, minerals and appetizing chalky notes on the palate and finish. Braced by acidity, full-bodied but agile and moderate in tannins, it has the structure for further aging. Drink now or hold.
Vinous: 92 Points
The remarkably pretty 2021 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard is coy in the glass, with a nuanced blend of crushed blackberries, zests of blood orange and spice. It sweeps across the palate with silken textures lifted by fresh acidity as wild blueberries and strawberries settle on the senses. This tapers off with a spicy tinge and subtle tug of fine tannins, leaving an air of lavender pastille to fade slowly.
Wine Advocate: 92 Points
The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard has autumnal aromas of bark, allspice, dried orange peel and tea leaves complementing intense red and black cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with concentrated, nuanced fruit, grainy tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, bitters-laced finish.
