This is a graceful Chardonnay with fragrant aromas of ripe mango, honeydew melon and peach along with hints of key lime pie, apple and floral notes. This is a muscular and powerful expression from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. The last few vintages have seen an increase in quality, as much due to California's clement weather as to changes made in the vineyards and winery since Stag's Leap's purchase by Antinori. Classic toasty oak and tropical fruit notes leap from the glass and echo on the palate, which is full-bodied and superbly well-balanced. Powerful stuff.

Almost entirely barrel fermented and matured (35% new French oak), the 2022 Chardonnay Karia features scents of pencil shavings, pineapple and crushed stone. It's medium to full-bodied, with a gently silky-custardy texture and hints of honey or caramel on the citrus-tinged finish.
