Chateau La Tour Blanche Description
The golden robe of the 2016 vintage reminds the brightness of the summer days and the following back season. The nose opens up on subtle notes of toasted bread and nuts. After aeration it becomes more complex with fresh notes of citrus and yellow fruits. The attack in mouth is generous and evolves on delicate and tasty notes of dried apricots melted with citrus (candied lemon, mandarin). This freshness gives relief to the wine and extends its aromatic persistency to finish on notes of mild spices (cinnamon).
Vinous: 96 Points
The 2016 La Tour Blanche has an extremely well defined bouquet featuring intense honeyed, botrytis-rich fruit, supremely well focused and conveying fine terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with viscous honeyed fruit laced with orange zest, marmalade, ginger and quince. There is a wonderful sense of harmony here. Persistent in the mouth while maintaining superb tension. Impressive.
Wine Advocate: 95 Points
Pale lemon-gold colored, the 2016 la Tour Blanche gives flamboyant tropical layers of mango, guava and passion fruit with hints of clover honey, beeswax, nutmeg, jasmine and preserved ginger. Big, rich, concentrated and seductively oily in the mouth, the palate is unashamedly decadent, and it finishes very long and spicy.
Wine Enthusiast: 95 Points
Structured and concentrated, this is a rich wine that is also fruity and packed with botrytis and acidity. Its texture and tangy edge are impressive and will certainly allow it to age.
James Suckling: 93 Points
A slew of dried mangoes and candied citrus, a full, succulent body and a long, clean finish, give this Sauternes plenty of appeal. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator: 91 Points
Soft and forward, with a mix of creamed peach, mango, apricot and orange cream flavors gliding through, backed by a honeyed finish.
