Chateau Tour Maillet Description
Brilliant purple color. The Bouquet is both powerful and refined, expressed in oaky, fruity and spicy notes in tone with the region and the vintage. Mouthfeel is even, its warm character is underpinned by the roundness of dark rich fruit and very elegant tannins.
James Suckling: 94 Points
Lots of blackberry, blueberry, violet and sandalwood character on the nose. Full-bodied, layered and velvety. Juicy finish. Structured and rather plush in nature.
Wine Advocate: 90 Points
Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Tour Maillet is a little oaky to begin, giving way to a core of kirsch, black raspberries and mulberries, plus touches of underbrush, Sichuan pepper and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate is also wearing its oak a little heavy, revealing a core of crunchy black and red berries with plenty of spicy sparks and a very firm, sturdy frame, finishing woody.
Vinous: 90 Points
The 2020 Tour Maillet has a nicely composed nose, quite opulent but retaining freshness. Ditto the palate, which is well balanced with fine depth, and a pleasing countervailing bitter note lending edge to the finish. This is a finely crafted Pomerol that should age well in bottle.
