This deeply colored wine is redolent of red berries and is full-bodied yet delicate with a silky finish—unique characteristics imparted by the soil of Chambolle-Musigny. The wine develops aromas of undergrowth when older. It will develop in the bottle for 10 to 12 years.
Louis Jadot Description
Fruit for this wine is drawn from the commune of Chambolle-Musigny, in which there are 24 Premiers Crus and 2 Grands Crus. The fine structure of Chambolle wines is influenced by the region’s chalky, gravel and pebble soil. The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine are fermented in vats for up to one month, and then the wine is aged 12 to 15 months in oak barrels.
Burghound: 91 Points
An exceptionally pretty, airy and distinctly cool nose features the essence of red cherry, raspberry and an interesting hint of orange peel. I very much like the texture and delineation of the vibrant medium weight flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the youthfully austere, linear and lingering finish. This pretty effort could use more depth so at least a few years of keeping should prove beneficial.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Drazeys (Domaine Gagey) is excellent, offering up aromas of sweet red berries, pomegranate, raw cocoa and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, pure and vibrant palate that's suave and seamless, concluding with a saline finish.
