Louis Jadot Description
Les Boudots borders the Premier Cru vineyards of Vosne-Romanée, at the northern border of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The soil is limestone and marl, and an eastern exposure ensures ideal sunlight. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to one month to extract color, aromas and tannins. The wine is then matured for 15 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
The fruit is ripe and pure in this brooding, dense version, accented by cherry, spice and mineral flavors. Balanced and long on the savory aftertaste, with plenty of elements in reserve.
Burghound: 91 Points
Outstanding
This has almost completely eaten the oak treatment which allows the expressive nose that is comprised of spiced plum, earth, menthol and cassis aromas to shine. There is fine intensity to the attractively, even seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess focused power and punch on the balanced and impressively persistent finish. This should offer at least a decade of development potential. Note that if you're going to try a bottle young to allow for at least 30 minutes of air as the mid-palate really fleshed out the longer it sat in the glass.
Vinous: 91 Points
Medium red. Brooding aromas of dark fruits, mint and menthol. Rich and dep on the palate, with spicy red fruit flavors lifted by a note of orange peel. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and juicy persistence.
