This is a feminine wine, elegant and delicate with fine tannins and fruity, spicy aromas and flavors. It has a great aging potential: 15 to 20 years in the bottle.
Louis Jadot Description
One of the 24 Premier Cru vineyards of the commune of Chambolle-Musigny, Les Fuées has chalky soil over hard bedrock and an eastern exposure. This Pinot Noir wine is fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, and then aged for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels before bottling.
James Suckling: 96 Points
The very deep sour-cherry nose with delicate floral notes pulls you into the gravitational field of this remarkable Chambolle-Musigny. It manages to be riper and more concentrated than the wines of this appellation normally are, yet it retains fabulous mineral and blood-orange freshness that enables this to light up the night sky like a fireworks display. Very long and energetic finish. From organically grown grapes.
Wine Advocate: 94 Points
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées (Domaine Louis Jadot) reveals a deep bouquet of plums, dark berry fruit, exotic spices, orange rind and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with powdery tannins, tangy acids and a mineral finish, it's a real success.
Wine Spectator: 93 Points
A compact red, with pure cherry, earth and oak spices fused to bracing acidity and dense, finely wrought tannins. Though this feels balanced and long, the finish is lightly astringent. Be patient. Best from 2025 through 2043.
Burghound: 93 Points
This is attractively quite floral-suffused with plenty of spice elements adding a touch of elegance to the markedly ripe liqueur-like aromas of various dark berries. Despite the overt ripeness, there is excellent underlying tension to the detailed and markedly fine flavors that conclude in a moderately austere and sneaky long finale where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. This is a wine that should be reasonably approachable after 6 to 8 years but also one that should reward 12 to 15. Excellent and well-worth considering.
Vinous: 93 Points
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuees 1er Cru has a reserved bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, black pepper, allspice and just a hint of pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, fresh and lightly spiced with a harmonious, almost Vosne-like finish.
