Louis Jadot Description
Les Boudots borders the Premier Cru vineyards of Vosne-Romanée, at the northern border of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. The soil is limestone and marl, and an eastern exposure ensures ideal sunlight. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to one month to extract color, aromas and tannins. The wine is then matured for 15 months in oak barrels before bottling.
James Suckling: 93 Points
A very fresh array of red flowers and cherries with a gently brambly, sous-bois edge to the nose. The palate has fresh red-cherry flavor in a tart, smooth texture. Good length and balance here. A great location in Nuits, adjacent to Malconsorts in neighboring Vosne.
Wine Advocate: 93 Points
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots (Domaine Gagey) wafts from the glass with aromas of dark fruit, licorice, baking chocolate and exotic spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and gourmand, with rich but fine-grained structuring tannins and succulent acids. It's a charming example of Jadot's Boudots that will make friends out of the gates but age with grace.
Vinous: 93 Points
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Boudots 1er Cru has a refined, precise bouquet of raspberry, wild strawberry, woodland and cigar box aromas that gently waft from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and a fine bead of acidity, quite caressing in terms of texture, with gentle but insistent grip toward the finish. This is a fine, quite assured Les Boudots that should give 12 to 18 years of drinking pleasure.
Burghound: 92 Points
Outstanding
restrained and agreeably spicy nose of both red and dark cherry fruit is trimmed in just enough earth and wood nuances to remark upon. There is fine punch to the admirably rich, round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess impressive persistence on the mouth coating, complex and moderately structured finish where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This is an opulent yet muscular and robust Boudots that should amply reward at least a decade of cellaring.
