A nicely colored wine with firm tannins and a fine flavor, this will develop for 8 to 20 years in the bottle, depending on vintage.
Louis Jadot Description
One of the 26 Premiers Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin, Petite Chapelle lies to the south of the village, near the Grands Crus Chapelle-Chambertin and Griotte-Chambertin, in a windy zone with deep soil. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in vats for up to 4 weeks, and then the wine is matured for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels.
Burghound: 92 Points
Moderate levels of wood toast and menthol suffuse the much more elegant mix of red and blue pinot fruit, violet and softly spiced tea nuances. The notably finer medium-bodied flavors flash more evident minerality on the well-delineated and firmer finish that also reflects just a hint of warmth.
Vinous: 92 Points
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru has an attractive bouquet of red currant, cranberry and pomegranate scents, a subtle marine note emerging with aeration. This feels very cohesive. The palate is medium-bodied with a creamy-textured opening, good depth and plenty of charm. It feels slightly viscous toward the finish. A very concentrated Gevrey, although it retains control and freshness all the way through.
Wine Advocate: 91 Points
Offering up notes of sweet forest floor, licorice, wild berries and woodsmoke, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Petite Chapelle (Maison Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, with a sweet core of ripe fruit framed by fine but youthfully chewy tannins. This is another of the firmer wines in the négoce range, and it will need a bit of time.
